The Embassy of the People`s republic of China to Malta held a ceremonial reception at the Grand Excelsior Hotel in celebration of the "67th Anniversary of the Founding of the People`s Republic of China". Her Excellency Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, delivered a speech to mark this occasion, with a special thanks bestowed on the Chinese Embassy and China Cultural Centre in Malta for their long term contribution and endeavours to share China`s rich culture with the Maltese Nation.

Moreover, H.E. Jiang Jiang emphasized China`s high regard for Malta as an important partner and friend, describing these bilateral relations as a universal role model of a mutually beneficial social system and harmonious confluence of traditional cultures. As the newly-accredited Ambassador of China to Malta, H.E. Her Excellency Marie Louise Coleiro Preca , President of Malta, credited the Chinese Embassy and China Cultural Centre in Malta for their contribution to Sino-Maltese relations, stating that "It is this framework of cooperation which sustains the close relationship and friendship between our peoples. Let me also commend the special efforts that the Embassy and China Cultural Centre continually make in sharing the magnificent cultural legacy of China. Events such as the Spring Festival and the recent Ning Feng Recital have greatly contributed to exposing and encouraging the appreciation of Chinese history and culture amongst the people of Malta. It is through such sharing that the formidable relations between our two countries can be further strengthened .We have much to gain from continued cooperation."
Off stage, Her Excellency also engaged in conversation with Mr Wang Yanjun, Director of China Cultural Centre in Malta, while in previous days honoured him with a personal phone call to congratulate China Cultural Centre on its series of high quality cultural events, and to thank him for the invitation to attend the Ning Feng Recital as well as for the Centre`s collaboration with the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
On the occasion of the Chinese National Day Reception, China Cultural Centre organized three cultural accompaniments: a variety performance by the Hainan Province Song and Dance Troupe; a photography exhibition themed "The New Silk Road"; and a book stand displaying Chinese publications for overseas promotion, including "The Governance of China" by H.E. Xi Jiping, President of the People`s Republic of China. The Hainan Province Song and Dance Troupe presented the President of Malta and the other 400-odd guests with a splendid show rich in essence of China`s traditional and ethnic cultures. The gracefully poised dances and crystal clear voices evoked a roar of applause from the audience. After the Performance, H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca and H.E. Jiang Jiang shook hands with the visiting members of the Hainan Province Song and Dance Troupe and accepted their invitation to a group photo together.
The 40 excellent works of the "New Silk Road" Photography Exhibition, which CCC set up at the reception venue were a great attraction at the event, consisting of the following three main categories: "Heritage", "Life of the People", "Economic Development".
On a similar note, the unprecedented success of CCC`s book display, aimed at presenting a multi-faceted literary selection alongside President Xi Jiping`s "The Governance of China", was evident in that hardly any publications were left over by the end of the evening.
For this year`s Chinese National Day Celebration, China Cultural Centre in Malta complied a variety of engaging cultural resources to actively participate in the Chinese Embassy`s event, aimed to promote China in foreign spheres. The Centre`s effective contribution in this respect was reflected in the fruitful outcome of this incentive, adding to high praise and welcome received from Malta`s President and high-profile politicians.
